Holiday splurge

Wanda and I went out for breakfast. This is a splurge for us in two ways. We seldom go out for breakfast, and we don't eat much fried food. The eggs, bacon, ham, and hash browns tasted great!

Three-day weekend

Ah-Memorial Day weekend-the unofficial beginning of summer. Wanda and I "celebrated" by doing some spring cleaning this morning--dusting, vacuuming the corners and edges of the livingroom. We do part of the house instead of the whole thing, and we work together, so it's much easier.

Working at home

My company gave me a laptop computer so I can work at home some days. So, on those days, I'm a "telecommuter". Instead of driving to work (as commuters do), I "go to work" via the internet. Pretty cool!

Problem solving

My job is mostly problem solving. I have to figure out how to write computer programs that give my customers the results they want. And often I have to test my code over and over to make sure it works correctly. Sometimes I'm at my wit's end trying to find an error. Today was one of those days. It turned out to be a simple error in setup--my code was fine!

Summer is coming

It's another warm day, but this time it feels like summer is just around the corner. I'm not looking forward to the hot and humid days of July and August, but that's par for the course in the Midwest.

Another Monday

It's a windy and warm evening. I'm tired from work. I felt like I was spinning my wheels most of the day. That's frustrating but some days are like that.

I met with a volunteer coordinator today. I learned about a program called Transitions for people who are sick and need help or just someone to talk to. My first assignment is to visit a man who is 95 years old. That should be interesting!

What a beautiful day!

It's a perfect spring day--sunny, calm, and cool. Wanda and I went for a drive and stopped at a local art museum. It's very near the place we lived when we were first married. On Sunday afternoon, you can take a guided tour, led by a volunteer. It's amazing how much I miss when I look at art by myself. The guide pointed out some very interesting details.



When it comes to art, I prefer traditional landscapes, portraits, etc. I don't care for most modern art at all. Some of it seems downright silly to me. At least this one is colorful and somewhat interesting.

Busy day at work

I have so much work to do and it's all on the computer. I was very frustrated this morning when Microsoft Word crashed twice! I had a very good meeting with some co-workers. We discussed an important project and they helped me choose the best direction to take.

After work, I did some work on my house. We had a problem with a gutter. When it rained last night, the water went behind the gutter--not a good thing! Then I mowed the front yard. Now I'm tired and ready to sleep.
